无铅标准源自欧盟在2003年2月13日颁布的《关于限制在电子电气设备中使用某些有害成份的指令》,即通常简称的RoHS (Re-striction of Hazard Ousmaterials)。 无铅并非专指焊锡中铅含量应低于RoHS规定的1000ppm以下,其中还应该包括RoHS规定的其他类有害物质。以往大量使用的锡铅焊锡,因为含有铅而被严禁使用。目前,国际上使用的无铅焊锡种类有数种,最常见的有在高端产品中使用的锡银铜焊锡、在较低端产品中使用的锡铜焊锡等等,因此,无铅焊锡是此类不含有有害物质的绿色环保焊锡产品的统称。
目前来说低Ag含量的无铅焊锡产品是世界各国研究SnAgCu焊锡的发展方向。近年来低Ag焊锡层出不穷,如SnAg0.3Cu0.7此款焊锡,只添加了较少量的Ag,虽然大幅度的降低了成本,但是其可焊性能还是较差,并不属于传统SnAgCu焊锡的范畴。
